Ardmore is a distinctly rich, full-bodied single malt. Its tasting notes reveal Ardmore as a punchy Scotch with a hint of smoke, subtly sweet and lightly peated. Little wonder that the brand’s logo is a mighty golden eagle.
The large Victorian distillery in Aberdeenshire sits 600 feet above sea level, close to the small, sleepy village of Kennethmont. A village with a population of less than 500 souls. With the Foundland Hills as its backdrop, it is an imposing site surrounded by quiet countryside and golden eagle-inhabiting skies.
Since opening in the late 19th century, the distillery has added a unique smokiness that’s made the highland malt quite different to others in the area. Ardmore Distillery made expansions in the mid 1950s and 70s. Today, most of the distillery’s production goes into blends, yet it does have a handful of discreet own bottlings, which include a strongly peated ‘Ardmore Legacy’, the 2017 ‘Ardmore Tradition Cask’, the ‘Ardmore Port Wood Finish’ and the ‘Ardmore Triple Cask’.
Ardmore has picked up a few awards along the way too – gold at International Spirits Challenge 2016; silver at Scotch Single Highland Malt 2017; and silver at The Asian Masters Awards 2018 – we urge you to get in touch for a malt you simply can’t fault.
