GlenAllachie Distillery. In 1967, a spectacular Speysider was born.
GlenAllachie is a striking distillery, with stunning grounds – in the heart of Speyside, near Aberlour. The whisky is lighter than other Speysiders. But still big on fruit, and with a unique, distinctive spice finish.
A newer distillery which adheres to old traditions.
Built in 1967 by Mackinlay Macpherson, it is one of Scotland’s newest distilleries. A large welcoming, branded gate; 20-acres of land; pristine whitewashed buildings; and ponds out front. In winter, with a sprinkling of snow, the site becomes a picturesque winter wonderland.

Today, GlenAllachie mainly creates spirit for blends, particularly for Chivas Brothers. After Invergordon Distillery’s attempt at buying the distillery, it was eventually sold to Campbell Distillers in 1989. After some restorations, it was purchased by Master Distiller, Billy Walker and The GlenAllachie Distillers Company Limited. Their slogan? “Whisky in good hands”.
The distillery’s ponds add a real charm to the site. They’re not just decorative – they are fed by the Lour burn (a tributary of the River Spey), which provides water for cooling.
GlenAllachie produces nearly one million litres of spirit a year. Other than blends, a core single malt Scotch range was released in 2018, including a 10-, 12-, 18-, and 25-year-old, plus a batch of other select single casks.
The icing on GlenAllachie’s cake is their state-of-the-art distillery and Visitor Centre.
