Glenfarclas Distillery. Six generations. One iconic single malt Scotch.
An iconic distillery in the heart of Speyside, Glenfarclas ran prior to 1836, yet it wasn’t until 1836 that it was awarded an official licence to operate. It is one of the few family-owned distilleries in Scotland. Six generations of the Grant family have passed through its famous doors (the Scotch giant is synonymous with its bright red doors, which were handcrafted in 1954).
Glenfarclas translates as ‘valley of the green grass’
An apt name, as its water source is the Green Glen, which flows from the majestic Ben Rinnes – the area’s highest mountain.
The distillery is one of the more prestigious in Speyside. The distinctive fruity, honeycombe, and vanilla Scotch is aged in both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks – both give it its unique flavour. A flavour that lends itself to some pricey bottles.

Direct fired, copper pot stills are used at Glenfarclas. The dram comes in a range of single malts, including the 10-, 12-, 15-, 17-, 21-, 25-, and 30-year-old releases, as well as the Family Cask range (single cask options from each year between 1952 and 2008 that are bottled at cask strength and natural colour). The Scotch is matured and stored in traditional dunnage warehouses.
